THE HILL RESORT OF MALAYSIA - THE GENTING HIGHLANDS

What better way to spend the couple of days from Hari Raya holidays than visiting places you've never been. For me, getting here is the very highlight of our KL trip just recently mainly because of the stunning infrastructures on top of the mountains. Also known as Resorts World Genting, it is a hill resort elevated at 5710 ft and is accessible by car from KL for an hour or by cable car called Genting Skyway from Genting Bus Terminal.

BATU CAVES: TEMPLE OF HINDU DEITIES

Leaving KL without visiting Batu Caves is like a void in your heart that you are longing to fill in with pleasure and contentment. (melodramatic huh?!) What I meant was you are far from satisfying your touring if you haven't been in this monumental place. Me in particular have been to that road since the beginning of time from working in Singapore as I visited KL several times but haven't got the chance to meet it in the flesh, that is why, I needed not to miss out this limestone caves in my fourth time.

HOW TO GET THERE. I recommend BY TRAIN. KTM Komuter train takes you to the caves on the Batu Caves classified as Port Klang line. Fare is around RM2.00 from KL Sentral to Batu Caves. The travel time from KL Sentral to Batu Caves takes about 30 minutes. (cheapest way). BY TAXI. Normal rates from city centre will cost around RM20.00 - 25.00 but this will always depend on your gullibility or street smarts. (always ask from your hotel or use taxi fare calculator online for approximate value).  Most importantly, always ask if it's metered taxi before jumping in. BY BUS. There are two bus routes you can choose from, U6 and U10.

SIARGAO: SURFING JUGGERNAUT OF THE PHILIPPINES - DAY 2

Regeneration completed! That's how I felt after I woke up from a coma-like sleep I had the first night. After yesterday's feat to 8 long hours of travel (from Tagum City to Siargao) and the island hopping thereafter, we didn't manage to recuperate and wake up from a presumed nap that struggling night that leaves us to a no dinner wrap for day 1. To try, eat and dash in the island's restaurants are our supposed activity that evening and since we missed it, it's definitely the thing we look forward to conclude the second night.

What's up for our itinerary in Day 2 is to come upon the famous rock pool in Magpupungko in the morning being the typical low tide time of the day (as per observation, from 8am-3pm I think is the ideal time). After the rock pool, we went to the surfing site in Siargao- The Boardwalk. With regards to the relativity of the blog title to the pictures below, my apologies to you (let's say I have a lot of readers) that I didn't manage to capture some significant waves to inspire you from going for the camera won't allow the distant range of the subject to be captured and it's getting dark.  See also Siargao - Day 1.

HOW TO GET HERE: For foreigners, the best is to take a direct flight from Cebu to Siargao Island catered only by Cebu Pacific airlines. Domestically, you can travel Surigao City by land from Davao City (Ecoland Bus Terminal) for 6 hours and head to Surigao City Port & Ferry Terminal to Ride a Ferry Boat to Dapa Port in Siargao Island for 3 hours. If you bring your own vehicle you can leave your car for a fee of Php 150 in Tavern Hotel but if you want to bring your vehicle to Siargao Island it will cost you Php 3000 fee for transporting it in the barge.

SIARGAO: SURFING JUGGERNAUT OF THE PHILIPPINES - DAY 1

Siargao is known for the world for its surfing waves and thick hollow tubes best known as "Cloud 9" derived from the local chocolate bar in the Philippines. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the waves at it's strongest and the best time to lay eyes on it during the day. Moreover, you cannot afford to be sad about it because there's more of Siargao than the surfing waves alone. It's such a rough first day because of the tiring and long land travel but it's worth the butt sore. See also Siargao Day 2.

THE PULAU UBIN EASTER SUNDAY SPECIAL

Last day of the holy week! it is badly imperative for us to go out of our caves to do at least with the 3-day off. Most of the days are just us playing couch potatoes to movie sequels and trilogies. This is one of the few times where my housemates attain an almost perfect attendance to spent time together in a recreation (Ian again is out of the picture). Since it's Easter Sunday we needed a place that is something laid back and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the places to be is the Pulau Ubin, it is an island off eastern Singapore and is said to be the last village or 'kampung' (native term) in Singapore. A promenade through Ubin takes you back in time to Singapore in the 1960's with the plain sailing pleasures of life.

Ubin is best enjoyed by pedaling through uncouth roads beneath swaying greens, wandering shrouded trails in overgrown rubber plantations, seeing for yourself the secluded beaches and thriving mangroves. In Ubin, air is definitely fresher than the botanical gardens in the main island of Singapore (in my opinion). No air test conducted... hehe.

HOW TO GET THERE. To get to Ubin, take the MRT to Tanah Merah MRT Station (EW4), then board Bus No. 2 to Changi Village bus interchange. Changi Point jetty is not far from the bus interchange. From the jetty, take a bumboat ride (S$2.50 per adult one way as of this writing) to Ubin. Bicycle rentals will range from S$5 to 15 dollars till 6PM. Additional charges apply beyond the lapsed time.

POPPED THE Q AT THE TEMPLE OF LEAH, BUSAY, CEBU CITY

When I was outlining my Cebu itinerary for the Chinese New Year holidays, I was researching online for new sights to gaze at and not for long of an hour's spent searching; my housemate gave me a sole recommendation of a place by showing me the clip of Jessica Soho's episode of the temple on her weekend TV show in GMA network. It was an instant awe to the attraction's appeal even though the site is still on progress for completion and together with my girlfriend, we set foot on the place during the holidays. (yes! like Armstrong and the moon)

Temple of Leah is Cebu's version of Taj Mahal, it is a tangible tribute of Teodorico Adarna's undying love for the departed and his wife Leah Villa Albino-Adarna. Teodorico is the grandfather of the sexy actress Ellen Adarna.  The temple is inspired by the Roman Architecture where you can see a myriad of Roman statues, intricate sculptures and column aesthetics that made an empire-ish impression. Like Kings and Queens as conquerors of land, I perhaps conquered a heart to dwell my love. (cheese!) I made it to propose that very day to my sweetheart for a commitment of a lifetime and make her document it through a video posted below.

ENCOUNTER WITH THE GENTLE GIANTS AT OSLOB, CEBU CITY

One of the highlights to my recent and short Chinese New Year holiday leave of 6 days was visiting Oslob for the Whaleshark encounter. Prior to the vacation, I was choosing closely between Bantayan and Oslob to which could have bring traveler's delight and something new in my table. And it was for the desire of seeing the big mammals that led me to choose Oslob. Two words - worth it!

HOW TO GET HERE. Ride a Bus from South Terminal of Cebu City, specifically, it is near Elizabeth Mall (E-Mall). Fare rates as of this writing is around P150-160. That's air-conditioned bus rates already. I like personally Ceres buses because it's spacious, cozy and clean. And for self-assurance you better tell the bus conductor that you will drop at Barangay Tan-awan for the Butanding (Whaleshark) Watching.

LA VIE PARISIENNE, CEBU CITY

Got my piece of the Chinese New Year holidays by spending it in the Queen City of the South-Cebu City. Since I get to work in Cebu before for 6 months, I opted to evade the common landmarks and visited instead the hip and the current ones. And one of these hippie is the La Vie Parisienne! The ambience was undeniably stunning but I don't know how fair the food is because the food we ate could not sum up all the menus they can offer. So, it's for you to find out.

It's Christmas everyday in La Vie. Located at 371 Gorordo Avenue, Lahug, Cebu City.

DAVAO PRAYER MOUNTAIN

About 3 years ago, I have already seen the features of this place from the crisp photos of some friends who posted of this in facebook. First impression? It looks like a place from a cold country where snow can fall anytime sooner but only to find out it's just sitting atop the heights of Tamayong, Calinan, Davao City. Unfortunately, I didn't get the hype to make the visiting done the soonest because of my dilly-dallying thoughts that it's just in my neighborhood where I can go anytime I want and whenever. I'm not sure if it's human nature or just the Filipino nature. heheh. However, my girlfriend made it happen by the year-end of 2014 when she suggested that I should come with them, her colleagues, to their long been planned local escape. And so I had the chance to see the Garden of Eden Restored.

Pastoral House. This Prayer Mountain also known for the name Garden of Eden Restored covers 8 hectares of land with a vast manicured landscape. Owned and resided by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy who is the founder and leader of the Philippine based Restorationist Church - The Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc.
